This event happenned in 2004. See current events page for this year's events. Yoga Retreat - with Bronwen Coghill Dates: 14 - 21 August 2004. Start time: 4 pm, Saturday 14th. Cost: 500 EUROS (about £350) Deepen your practice, understanding and living of yoga with a week’s retreat in the beautiful surroundings of the Sun Centre with yoga teacher Bronwen Coghill. Each day will start with a morning session before breakfast. This will involve some banda work, and a flow-based asana practice (sometimes set to music) which will focus the mind and channel the energy in preparation for a short pranayama and meditation practice to end the session. The asana practice will be designed to lead into more challenging asanas by the end of the week. The middle of the day will be free to explore the surrounding area. There are plenty of activities available - walking, swimming in the river, mountain biking, horse-riding. If something more relaxing appeals, then try some massage, kinesiology or one of the therapies the Centre has to offer etc. Or simply chill out under the trees with a book or just absorb the beauty of nature. Various additional activities can be organized through the Sun Centre – look on their website for options. The afternoon session will be a restorative practice,
including Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation practice). Yoga Nidra is a powerful
practice in which one learns to relax consciously, releasing physical,
emotional and mental tensions. The practice is especially useful for self-healing,
for increasing one’s creativity and for making positive changes
to one’s nature and in one’s life. Accommodation is in twin-bedded rooms, but there is space for a few tents for anyone who prefers to camp. The food is vegetarian, based on Ayurvedic principles, and is prepared by owner Alex from local, organic produce. Alex is currently studying Ayurveda and will be available for consultations for anyone interested in learning more about this ancient system of health. Bronwen Coghill trained as a yoga teacher through the SYTA. She teaches an integrated style rooted in classical Hatha yoga, drawing particularly from the schools of Shadow Yoga and Vinyasa Flow Yoga. Her practice is mainly flow-based, paying close attention to the bandas, alignment, rhythm and the breath in order to channel energy and focus the mind in preparation for meditation. She is also trained as a Kinesiologist, and draws on this training, as well as deep relaxation and emotional stress release techniques, to bring a deeper therapeutic approach to her yoga teaching. Bookings: The week is suitable for those who have already had some introduction to and experience of yoga.
